Water in Fuel Light

Well went mudding tonight.... and i hit some of the puddles pretty hard, where the water was easily 30 foot in the air. Anyway, after one of the runs, the Water In Fuel Light turned on. Not knowing what to do, I shut the truck down. Started it back up. Still on, so I let it idle for about 5 minutes to where it finally turned off. So I went in the mud holes again at a much slower speed.

Anyway, what is the correct procedure to follow when the Water in Fuel light goes on?

Thanks

Yea Open the valve and let it flow till no more water come out. If the drain line is clogged start it up to see if the fuel pressure will blow the crud out.

x2 above. Also there is a electric module associated with the water in fuel light located just in front and below the GPR as shown, on my truck. It has a little circuit board in it and if becomes (moist) will turn on WIF light. The "LED" look is the flash from the camera and is the actual circuit board.

Open up the dog house cover and on the left front corner of the fuel bowl you will see a little yellow tab/lever, turn it to the left 1/4 turn and it will drain your bowl, takes a minute or so, handy when changing your filter or monthly draining maintenance which I do, make sure you put a pan under the front center of the engine to catch the fuel/water, close it when done.......some times they plug and a couple cranks on the starter while its open will usually blow out the hose for ya.....

Slick!

Do i have to reprime the system after letting the fuel out of the bowl?

Also is the dog house cover where the fuel filter is? I thought that there was a fuel canister over on the passnger side by the air conditioner container thingy...

Sorry for the newb questions

Fuel filter housing is under the cover. The yellow valve is attached to it right next to the big round black cap the filter is under.
