Body shops almost always fail to replace the stone guard when painting that area.

Are you the original owner?

sorry-, when I mean "stone guard" I don't mean the clear bra; it's a metal bracket that must be removed in order to remove the caliper. It looks like it's to project the bleeder nipple?

Are you talking about the dust shield?

not sure...it's curved, faces the front of the truck and is held in place by the same studs that hold the caliper in place

Sounds like the dust shield to me. More of a splash guard than anything else if you ask me.

It protects the drivers side caliper because it faces towards the front of the truck, the passenger side caliper is facing towards the rear of the truck. The passenger and driver side use the exact same caliper, there is no right or left, that is why they are opposing each other.

I was actually wondering the same exact thing last Sunday when I was replacing my rear sway bar bushings. Good to know.

ah, it makes sense that it's to protect the caliper. I was just htinking it was to protect the bleeder

WTH are you guys talking about? Both of my rear calipers are on the rear (behind the axle) and the dust shield goes around to the front.

Mike, that is odd. I know mine are opposing because I just did rotor and calipers on all four wheels and the rears are using the exact same caliper.

Jason, do me a favor and go and look at your calipers. I bet both are on the back side of the axle. I am not saying they use a different caliper, I am saying they both face the same way, towards the front.

Mike, I just looked and the drivers side is in front of the axle and the pass is behind. Something is different between our trucks.
