Heater Hoses

Ok so my heater hoses are laid out like this. 1 hose goes from the water pump, to the controler (which doesn't work, that control cable doesnt move it far enough but thats an issue for another day), and then it goes to the heater. The other hose comes out of the heater and goes to a fitting on the intake manifold just above and behind the water neck a bit. I also have another hose that connects these two hoses together by way of t-fittings along the other two hoses, is that additional hose necessary? It used to help warm up my choke, but seeing as this choke doesn't work and I am looking to convert it to electrical pretty soon here anyway, the hose just gets in the way now, can I take it out and replace the t-connectors with straight connections?

do you mean the carb spacer that has the heater lines? yeah that can be bypassed with not problem. did it to my current 69. although my old 71 had that setup and for some reason the heater would bake my butt. i loved it. you put your hand in front of the vent and go owwww, actually burnt your hand.

oh sorry I thought i put that, its a 1970 302.

and I'm not sure what you're talking about, mine has a hose that goes between the two heater hoses and goes into a clip that holds that hose right up against the choke 'casing' (for lack of a better word a.t.m.)

Im just bought a cooling system flush kit today, and noticed that the Tees are designed to be spliced into those hoses. If you have a spare Tee installed you could leave it as a permanent flush connection to a garden hose fitting.

Sleep, You factory setup as described provided heat to the cab and to the carb.

Sounds like some modding has been done to the factory system. Can't see but maybe a loop to bypass the carb.

The current setup on my truck goes from the pump, to the cab and back with an inline ball valve.

When flushing your system and drain down, I recommend refilling with a 50/50 mix of grocery store distilled water with your favorite antifreeze. The distilled water doesn't have minerals in it like some waters than can clog & gum up cooling systems.
