Is the crack where the two pipes come together just before the convertor?

If so flow master makes a y connector 2.5" dual inlet and 3" outlet. FLO-Y250300 in the summit catalog.

No it isn't cracked, it is egg-shaped at the flange on the right side and the leak is getting worse. The Y pipe is or was a Ford only part, but now has been discontinued by Ford and there is none in the country anywhere in stock. However if I could get one from Ford the price was $1016.85, for a fringing Y pipe and I am not paying that kind of price. If I wanted to pay that price I would put on headers and rid the Y pipe, but would like to keep in stock for future restoration. I may have to go to a muffle place and see if they can make it round again. Ford had alot of trouble with those 460 FI Y pipes. The exhaust temps where so high they worped and that is what mine has done. I was looking for some suggestion to what other people have done in my case. I am now searching alot of junk yards, but have found they don't normally keep exhaust parts and there is a chance that it would be similar to mine. Thanks for the info and I am open to any and all suggestions or if anybody knows where a used one might be hiding. Thanks

The factory ford cat for the 460 has an ovaloid entry. The y or connector pipe is oval as well.

You are certainly correct in the high heat and warpage that occurs in the exhaust manifolds. The manifolds have more carbon in them and expand at a different rate than the heads do. This and the excessive heat is why they crack.

The high heat is primarily due to high exhaust back pressure. In addition the lack of power at part throttle requires WOT operation more often than is required in an upgraded combo.

You mention the upgraded system? Do you suggest that headers and a different exhaust would be the finally and maybe only fix?
What would you're fix suggestion be?
Thanks

~ 1993 F350 460 ~

What PINHEADED CLUCK gave you that crap info and ridiculous price?

F3TZ5246C has been replaced by F7TZ5246DA .. Y Pipe

STILL available from Ford!

MSRP: $578.68 // FTEpartsguy.com price: $493.03.

Fits: 1992/97 F250/350 460.

FTE sponsor = FTE Parts Guy: Ed Olson @ Parr Ford in Bremerton WA

FoMoCo parts depots have 69 available: 11 in Detroit, 11 in Memphis, 47 in Sacramento.

There's...at least...another 70 in dealers parts inventories. Closest dealer to you that has one is Larry Miller Ford in SLC UT.

But... you prolly won't get that FTE member discount price there.

I looked one up the other day for a guy for a 99 6.8L it was avail one month, next month when he was ready Ford obsoleted it and no dealer had one.

Shipping gets a little interesting on y-pipe because of size and shape.

Bill is right that y-pipe is still avail.

According too two different dealers I have contacted said for a :
1993 F-350 4X4 Crew Cab with 460 FI, Automatic transmission, no resonator but with O2 sensor

Discontinued and none in the US of A
If I could get one the manufactors list price $1016.85 dollars

If you can re-verify that one of those part # will fit I would be glad to pay the shipping. However I have found out by checking with a few junk yards in the area that not all Y-pipes from the '92-'98 series are the same.

My left back pipe comes down and turns under/ between the oil pan and bell housing and Y's with the right bank pipe at the front of the transmission, where the O2 sensor is located then goes to the cat. It is a round clamp fitting at the cat not the square flange fitting as most I have seen. I have the short right bank pipe and the long one.

Please re-verify those part numbers as not having a square flange and havingthe short right pipe and I will really appreciate it.

Thanks

93 F350 4X4 7.5L W/O RESONATOR WITH A E4OD TRANS WITH PRODUTION DATE FROM 2/93 with a single pipe to muffler

F7TZ5246DA still avail

if you have before 2/93 and two pipes to muffler then that shows to be obsolete.

EDIT: Ed has spoken.

btw: If you had put all those specs into your original post, I would not have had to spend 10 minutes comparing exhaust parts lists by staring at Ford microfiche slides using a Chrysler viewer & a magnifying glass!

The Chrysler viewers resolution is about 1/3 the size of the Ford viewer. I have a Ford viewer, but it needs some parts...which are obsolete.

PAL-EEZE when asking questions, list ALL the pertinent info.

Built 4/93 and yes it did have the two pipe to muffler, but that has long been gone. Sorry

OH! Sorry for the inconvience and the trouble I caused you Number Dummy to have to look though a microscope. Maybe being an X parts guy, you should have been the one verifing all the details before searching. Oh, I am just the dumb customer.
Sorry I took up your time.

I already knew it was discontinued, I was asking a simple question has to what my options are now.

4/93 should be the one Bill and I listed F7TZ5246DA and is still avail.

after 2/93 should have been a single pipe to muffler but if that is long gone anyways who cares order the F7TZ5246DA AND BE DONE WITH IT.

I have sold hundreds of these in the past and I don't know how many cats for the 460. was kinda of a popular part for a while 15 plus years ago.

Called Larry Miller Ford in SLC, UT. That number is for a 2-wheel drive F-350.

The number he said I need is a F7TZ5246BA (discontinued)

I am betting it is the long pipe, rather than the short, which is for the 4X4. Will it work on a 4X4???????????
Is anyone willing to bet the price of $500.00 that it will work on a 4X4 before I order it and then have to send it back if it doesn't?

Still asking for some options to fix my problem.
Thanks
