Dome light

Hey ya'll! Has anyone redone their old dome lights to 12 volt. Mine looks in decent shape and i was wondering how to go about this.Just run heavier wires or what.. A little confused about the 6 to 12 volt switch. Can I use the original toggle switch or will the new voltage fry it? Fianlly got my cab back from my "painter" , started insulating it and putting in the bowed vinyl headliner. Carpet kit will be next. Pictues to be updated soon.

When changing over from 6V to 12V you'll need to change out ALL your bulbs...dome light included...Research the tech articles, there's a wealth of info related to your project...good luck

I do not know for sure, but I won’t let that get in my way, some dome lamp bulbs where really weird, single filament lamp but double contact because the switching was done on the ground side, not the hot feed. If you get the corresponding (same as) 12 v. bulb to the 6 v. that you have you should be good to go (maybe, he said).

You'll be fine with the existing switch. 12 volt systems actually require LESS current for the same wattage. Just change out the bulb. Your door button switches are fine too. They are all just mechanical contact type!
