Running Board Swap, My 2 cents

When I got my 52 a couple weeks ago the running boards were in pretty bad shape. What I didn't know was that they were mostly fiberglass patch and bondo. I had no idea I wasn't supposed to step on them. Needless to say yesterday they finally feel completely apart. There is no hope of repair and the few sets I found for sale were in just as bad shape and right now the new price of $800 could be used in other places. While sitting holding the parts and pieces of what was left I remembered a set of old aluminum running boards I had stashed away from a van. One set of those made a nice replacement for the old ones but there was still a big gap under the cab. Alittle trim on the ends made them fit the curve of the fenders. So, off I went looking for a second set and after I put those to the top of the first set it looks pretty dang good even if I do say so for a shade tree job. Maybe this will help someone else make do untill better times on their truck. Just trying to add some back because you Folks sure have helped me.

If you have any problems there's "sticky" at the top of the main board to guide you through posting pictures.

I'm sure there will be quite a bit of interest in your idea. These old running boards sure take a beating.

Good luck on getting the pics posting thing figured out

Bobby
