wiring my 54 f100

What are your plans? There actually isn't an "Original Schematic" around for the 53/4 trucks, but the popular 55/6 schematic is fairly close. If you are not going to stay 6 volt, positive ground, or keep all the original accessories, the original will actually do oyu very little good. If you are keeping it 6 volt (which is perfectly fine, as long as oyu don't want modern accessories) then I have a sketch of the difference bewtween the 53/4 and 55/6 schematics, that I will share with you. Just remember though, if you're not keeping it original, it's not worth the time and energy to even mess with it, as the 6 volt system is limited in it's upgradability, and accessories.

Are you running the original motor, and trying to stay stock? Don't let anyone tell you that the 6 volt is garbage, or is automatically prone to fires, it's not true. You don't "need" or "have to" upgrade to 12 volt, as many folks in this hobby will push, but you can't modernize the truck without upgrading to 12 volt.

54 wiring
I am going to maintain the 6 volt system. this truck is original from tip to tail and will remain so. if you would be willing to send me what you have i would greatly appreciate it.
the truck was in the process of restoration, sat for a bit, and the wiring was put back hastily. i need anything to help me figure it out.
thank you for time.

I just love those high dollar 'options' those little extras that no matter the cost they are worth it to make your ride that special to you.... like the 'optional' second brake light, tag light and interior lighting !!! a dome light that comes on when EITHER door opens (even if one door doesn't lock !!!).... that really sets that De-luxe cab apart

That is the diagram for the 55 and 56 trucks, and is actually wrong for the 53 and 54. The gauges are the same setup as that one, as are the lights, and such, OUT SIDE of the firewall, but the 53 and 54 are completely different under the dash and at the headlight switch. I am working on a usable conversion schematic that shows the difference between that diagram and the 53/4, and hopefully some one on here will have the abiltiy to copy it and make more presentable, as the only thing I can do is draw it out on paper, and scan it.

The 53-55 diagram is great for a quick reference. It helps since all the colors and gauges are the same. The biggest difference is that on the 53/4, there are two battery terminals on the headlight switch. There is one heavy (10 ga yellow) that goes to a circuit breaker (15 amp). At that terminal, the ignition switch (14 ga yellow) power wire comes right off the battery wire, as does the power for the starter button. There is a second circuit breaker that is also 15 amps, and it's bridged with a brass bar from the first. The first one also sends power straight to the headlight battery terminal (it is seperate from the park lights). The second circuit breaker sends power to the other battery in terminal on the light switch, and it only powers the dash and park lights. I have pictures, and a sketch, and am trying to find them so I can post them. The 53/4 headlight switch is not voltage sensitive, as is the 55's, as it is nothing more than brass contacts attacked to a bakalite insulator, and are bridged by a brass terminal attached to a slide plate.
