What years/models 5.4l engines will work in my 2002 f150 5.4l? I found a 2000 Expedition 5.4l engine cheap and I'm hoping it will fit. If it will fit, what, if any, mods will have to be done? I'm planning on transferring my intake, a.c. compressor, ect. to the new engine. Will the wires on my engines wiring harness work with the new engine?

 

My 2000 5.4 was just swapped for a 5.4 from an expy. The mechanic used my intake, everything else hooked right back up as far as I know. Intake can differ a little but if you're comfortable pulling an engine that shouldn't be a problem for you. as for engines, i've always been curious if the 3V motors will line up on the motor mounts and transmission. Otherwise I believe the 97-03 5.4L are a drop in replacement.

 

97-98 engines have different heads and less power. (cant remember the term for the better heads ) I think 02-03 5.4s are bolt in with no swapping parts. 97-98 is one set, 99-01 is another group, 02-03 and heritage which is 04, another group.
