Saw a neat 6x6 marmon-herrington f-6 the other day

I drove home from the junkyard a different way on saturday ( I picked up an N-case ford 9" centersection of my 52...I am dtied of breaking rear axles) and saw a marmon-herrington f-6 6X6 in front of a body shop. I didn't have a camera with me but I hope to drive back past it to get some pics. It was a fire truck and is all original with 7,000 miles on it, the body shop is restoring it for the fire department. The body is nearly mint pretty much just needing new paint, pretty neat to see a truck so original.

And as soon as jpb222 posts pics, Bob will probably morph it into a Mercury!!

No matter, we need pics. And just imagine the man it took to drive that animal in anger. Any MH is an animal, but a F-6 with a bogie axle, man-o-man.

Here are a few pics...

They got it pretty stripped down, the rear dualies are off as well as the body, the running boards and and most of the trim.

They told me it should be painted in a month or so.

Fine looking old soldier. Sitting tall like that they don't rust as bad. I'd like to liberate them front hub caps to save having to make one for mine.

WOW!!! Now that is a Truck!! First MH 6x6 I've seen, and given its pristine fire truck condition, it will be preserved for a long time I'm betting. If you can keep the photos coming as it gets done, it would be a great record of the truck for FTE. You should talk to the fire department about doing a set of photos and an article for a magazine .... like Vintage Truck. I'm betting they would jump on such a story.

RG in Spokane

1957 F600 MH 4x4
.... and a small herd of other old rigs.
