I gotta admit.....I drive a bowtie, yet I really respect the Blue Oval. I have a 02 SS Camaro and my best bud has an 01 Lightning. So, see there.... I know what rivalry is all about. We talk smack to each other all the time, yet we both respect each others rides.

I have scrolled through quite a few of your posts and am impressed!! If you don't mind, I would like to keep coming back and chatting with all of you. If the bowtie clan is banned from here, then I will go. But, before I do, gotta tell ya, you drive an awesome truck!

Really wish GM would put up some seriour competition for the Lightning the way Dodge is going to with its upcoming new truck. It would force Ford to make the Lightning even better!

 

I'll bet John Colletti and the SVT team already has an answer for the Dodge SRT/10 on the drawing board. Maybe a DOHC, 32-valve Lightning is next?

AHhh yessss, Dodge wants to slip their Viper engine into their pick up truck?
Ford can easily slip the GT40's engine into the Lighting.

Being that the GT40 is going to turn the Viper into a garden snake come 2003, I can only imagine what a 500 HP Lighting would do to a SRT 10.

Just think, 32 valve supercharged 5.4L V-8, producing 500hp/500lbs, not only will the lightning compete and beat dodge's SRT/10, but just think a 4000lb+ truck competing and most likely beating vettes and other such cars. The possibilties.........

when you think about it the dodge isn't that much faster. for all the extra power it has it didnt make to much of a differance and i bet the lighting will still corner better, and cost less. notice how ford has the smalest engines but will take on anything

 

Sean Hyland has already adapted Cobra heads onto the Lightning engine. No hp or torque figures on the website but I would suspect around 550-600hp the way them boys do business there.

I would like to see the lightning put in the 32 valve engine, but just remember the more power and performance these trucks get will mean much more $$$$$$$ to buy one. I defiantly would like to see some competition for the lightning in 2003, my comment to Dodge is, Bring on the Viper truck!! There is no way they will be even close to the price of the lightning, unless Ford makes some huge performance changes to the L's. Come on, a Viper runs for around $72K MSRP, and with that same powertrain in a truck, I can't see the price being a whole lot different. I'd say the Viper truck will run for around $60K. But I say the more competition the better, these trucks are just going to get faster and faster.

 

I love chevy and I own a Lightning a newer one and I out run SS Z28s most of the time but it is great to have a chevy fan posting on here all my friends own chevys and we all talk bs to each other it is fun I am just upset that chevy quit making the Z28 I have nothing new to beat all the time

 

Technically speaking, if im remebering correctly from years ago, the viper actually has a moded version of the ram v-10. i think it would be funny, as a joke, to see ford produce a lightning with a dohc 6.8 v-10. no, it wouldnt be a true lightning, but hey, speed is all that matters......
