Gotta Love the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
I went for an inspection sticker today. Luckily a friend ownes the place and informed me that Mass. now requires a DOT inspection on all 1 ton vechicles before I pulled into the bay. I had to go to NAPA and buy 2 rubber chock blocks, (wooden ones are not allowed), 2 triangle/flare kits, and a fire extinguiser. The guy at NAPA took good care of me on the price. I then went back to the inspection station for my sticker and was told that it is $89 instead of $29 because of the peice of paper that says' that the DOT inspection was done. They are even inspecting trailers with a payload of 3K. The DOT inspectors are "hanging" around the area's where the inspections are being done and doing spot checks to make sure that the stations are not letting things slide. So they can fine both the operator and the station.
They don't call this place Taxachusetts for nothing.

That may be a thought Pete, but if I move down I'm thinking a bit warmer!
It is B.S. I put them in my tool box in the boxes that they came in. If I get pulled over the inspector can see them in the boxes. I had to shuffle stuff around the tool box to make room for this stuff.

And if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any luck.

Thats crazy on what you have to do...
We go in pay 20 bucks, blow the horn, turn on all our lights, blinkers, wipers, checks the brake pads, tire tread and Im ususally out. Takes longer to scrape the old sticker off than the whole inspection deal. But then again the shop down the road knows most of us around here and knows how people take care of their vehicles. We dont have sneaky DOT inspectors spying on them either...I believe duallys are the same as well...

I just got my 1 ton inspected in MA and no DOT requirements...
According to the Mass RMV site...Commercial vehicles are subject to it...does not say anything about 1 ton.
Inspections of commercial vehicles are now equivalent to the annual Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) “DOT” inspection. Commercial vehicles receive all required inspections at one time.
Massachusetts Vehicle Check
My truck is rated at 9900 so maybe if yours is over 10k?? the Mass site does not say that though...Do you have commercial plates?
