Engine Light/New Sensor

Engine Light/New Sensor
I drove about 400 miles on 3/15 and I experienced a nearly constant "cleaning exhaust filter" message and the motor was just a little off and hard to really pin down what the problem was.
On 3/16 I checked out of my hotel, started the motor and the engine light was on. Motor pretty much ran normally but was still just a little strange feeling.
When I finished working I found Cook-Whitehead Ford dealer in Panama City and lucked out. I asked if they could at the very least diagnose the problem and tell me if I could make it another 1200 miles before I get home. He said no problem. They took the truck in and discovered that one of the EGT Temp sensors had failed. They had one in stock and I was covered under a warranty. Billed me $0.00.
FYI:
1. Engine ran "odd" for 400 miles with no check engine light.
2. Next day, engine light came on.
3. Cook-Whitehead Ford was a great place. They have 3 diesel mechanics and did what they could for me as I have to travel another 400 miles tomorrow w/7 or 8000 lb. trailer.
4. Ford DieselCare Plus warranty 200,000 mile coverage did not cover the repair. Some other Ford warranty did. I did'nt ask, just signed and drove.
I had a nervous experience and it worked out. So many horror stories on here as of late!
My truck has 81,500 miles on it and most all of them involve pulling a decent amount of trailer.
I think I'll order the EGT temp gauge set up very soon. I don't remember the name of it but it's the one somebody recommended on FTE forums and just plugs into the OBD port.

Yeah, and it sucked to be stuck in Panama City for an extra night! Bar closed at 4 and we had to go. Trust me, I have not stayed out that late since college. Sure was fun though.
I ordered the Edge Insight a few minutes ago. $279 plus $40 for the dash thingy. It's a little chunk of money but I think it's time I monitor some things.
Cool thing is, I told the service guy "I bet it's an EGT sensor somewhere". You guys here at FTE have taught me a lot.
