Original color

I would like to figure out what color my 53 f100 was originally painted. I believe there was something on here talking about how to figure this out. Can someone point me to that article? I tried the vin decoder above but it does not go into that much detail.

Under the dash is a good place. Also, you can flip up any of your window rubber and it may be under there as well. Or, you can romove one of your door dovetails and look under there maybe.

It was a special order.....but it has no less than 11 coats of paint. Blue/yellow/red/ etc....I cannot believe it!!

Glacier is the light blue, Sheridan is more of a navy blue.

Most of the SS codes I have seen have a nice Department of Transportation yellow or orange on them as the original color - especially the bigger trucks.

The color code on my 53 is N, vermilion. Is this a dark green? I have always liked the light glacier blue. I am thinking about re-painting it that color since I do believe I will be able to match the green it is painted with right now.

That is very much correct - Vermilion is the red/orange color show above. It is the original color of my truck and soon will be again!

If you go to the following link and enter the year/make it will display an old PPG color chip page that also included the "codes" if you can read them.

Good Luck!
