I would like to figure out what color my 53 f100 was originally painted. I believe there was something on here talking about how to figure this out. Can someone point me to that article? I tried the vin decoder above but it does not go into that much detail.
climb under your dash, bet you can find some originial color...but, don't you still have id tag in glovebox?...usually was on the inside of glove door lid...I think?
Under the dash is a good place. Also, you can flip up any of your window rubber and it may be under there as well. Or, you can romove one of your door dovetails and look under there maybe.
Hopefully you still have the VIN plate - you will find a place for color - here are the codes specifically for a 1953 F100.
1953 Paint Code Paint Color Name
A Raven Black
B Sheridan Blue
C Glacier Blue
D Woodsmoke Gray
G Seafoam Green
N Vermilion
R Meadow Green
P Prime
SS Special Order
My 53 is ss code and I have been blocking it out, and still cannot decide the original color...LOL
It was a special order.....but it has no less than 11 coats of paint. Blue/yellow/red/ etc....I cannot believe it!!

Most of the SS codes I have seen have a nice Department of Transportation yellow or orange on them as the original color - especially the bigger trucks.
The color code on my 53 is N, vermilion. Is this a dark green? I have always liked the light glacier blue. I am thinking about re-painting it that color since I do believe I will be able to match the green it is painted with right now.

I looked it up its a orange red color. Hopes this is right found this on the net under colors.
If you go to the following link and enter the year/make it will display an old PPG color chip page that also included the "codes" if you can read them. AutoColorLibrary Color Chip Selector
