Can anybody tell me what mods can be done to a 88 Bronco with 5.0 and C6 for better gas millage?? Thinking of going with E4OD for the overdrive millage. What other mods do you guys suggest?

an e4od you need a computer to run which is really pricy, if your stuff is all stock just get an aod you won't break it with stock stuff unless you REALLY beat on it, i have an aod in my truck with around 475-500hp (on nitrous) going through it and it's all stock minus the converter and a fluid change and it's been underwater a number of times, just look at my avater (little pic next to my name)

So that means 235/75x15 tires and what gearing? Stock means nothing since there were 4 or 5 different ratios available.

first what do you consider good mileage? figure with a properly tuned motor, tires at proper air pressure and all fluids in good order and tire size in check maybe 12-14city and 15-17 hwy. how many miles on the motor will also dictate what kinda mpg it will get.

if you truely want good mileage find a car LOL

I also dont feel that your motor with ported e7's and a 570 carb can put out that kinda power just not possible. it definatly sounds cool though and no way a stock AOD could ever withstand that kinda power either. they can barley handle being behind a stock 5.8 with proper fluid/filter changes.

Put the 5.0 in something that does not weigh 5000# with the aerodynamics of a brick.

I think just a good tune up and some free flowing exaust, will be your best bet. these are heavy and sqaure not a good combo for great gas milage. As for the aod, have one built before you install it and it will be very dependable.
