rear sway bar pics

Hey all,

Does anybody have any pics as described above. I think parts were missing from my Aaddco kit. It sounds like there should be some links. Where do they mount? My X is a 2001 and does not have a factory sway bar.

Thanks,

Archie

I know somebody does...I just cannot remember who!

Maybe the links are two piece like the helwig junkers?

Links mount to the frame.

Whats wrong with helwig?

There should be endlinks that go from your sway bar to the frame and D shaped bushings in the middle connecting the sway bar to the axle.

If the endlinks are missing, you can go to Advance Auto parts and get Energy Suspension replacement endlinks for 20 bucks.

I have some pics of my Hellwig install in my Suspension Upgrades gallery; not sure how it compares to the Addco?

Those are nice links! The Helwig ones I had on my 2000 were two pieces of flat stock that you bolted together. Effective but cheesy.

I've seen those style; I guess Hellwig has upgraded their link style to a rod welded to the bushing-tube, with the steel sleeve/spacer and then the bushing sandwich at the link end.

I like these types of upgrades which cost less to manufacture.

Great pic, thanks. Addco is very similar in design. Did you have to drill for the link to the frame?

I'll follow up when Summit gets back to me.

The link used a hole that was already there. No drilling necessary; it just bolted right up.

Just got off the phone with Summit. They are pointing the finger at Addco, saying it's their option to list if additional parts are needed or not. The guy was not able to determine if the Hellwig has end links or not.

BobBarry, did your Hellwig kit come with the links? Do you have the Hellwig part number? Where did you get your kit?

Thank you,

Archie

I don't have the Hellwig part #; those links came with the kit that I ordered through JC Whitney.

I got my Hellwig from carparts last week, the install went great except for the printed nstructions, they sucked. They use pictures that are too dark to see and the parts look used in the picture. I went to Hellwig's website and watched the install video, that helped some. Good luck with your installation.

I got my bar from carparts.com, returned the one to summit. I don't know what addco was selling, but don't waste your time. The Hellwig was a great quality product, the whole thing installed in about 2 hours. I'll drive it this weekend and follow up then. Thanks for the advice all,

Archie
