So the mockup begins...
After many days and weeks behind a hammer and dolly, not to mention the hours of block sanding, the first mockup begins. I need to get all the pieces bolted together to be sure of the fit, then it's back apart again and time for paint. The first club show/event is in mid-June so I have my work cut out for me...

remember the trick.. after you get everything where you want it, drill small alignment holes in all the seams, door hinges etc so you can get it back there after paint.
you'll be glad you did..
also, I did NOT disassemble one part that I wish I had.. the front bed panel.. or a least make sure there is primer UNDER the seams
I also wish my bed panels had been pre-primed under the weld seams, or dipped or something.. will be hard to keep the rust out of the bare seams (water WILL get in unfortunately)

The solution to the 460 fit issue was to put that engine in my 50 Merc and to build a 351 W for that 56 big window truck. This 56 is another truck that was going to be a quick build and was just going to be a daily driver...it always seems that we can't leave well enough alone, there's always something to be added or improved. The next thing you know we are building a show truck! btw, the other 56 is in the shop waiting it's turn...

The weather has been pretty nice the past week, when I got into my car this afternoon the outside temp gauge read 103. Of course once you get moving the temp drops but it was still 88. Needless to say I am using the warm weather to my best advantage and getting all the primer work done while the conditions are good.

Got the rear fenders, running boards, and radiator supports back from the sandblaster the other day and put a coat of epoxy primer on them. Ready to start with the door hinge rebuild so I can get those hung this weekend. The light at the end of the tunnel just may not be a train after all...
