Nope its a 390 alright. my grandpa bought a 64 t bird with a 390 from a guy at work that just had the engine balanced. he bought it cause the 352 was knocking really bad. but anyways he pulled both engines. spruced the 390 up a bit with some paint and put it in the truck. this all happened when i was a year old. now i have it and it still runs strong. too strong for the crappy clutch in it. if it was anthing but a 390 id be peeved. but it is.
Check the stroke....might be your g-pa was lead astray, there is no way, externally/visually, to know whether the engine is a 390 or not.... #Dummy is not calling your family's honor into question...only stating what is more often the case than not.

If the engine came from a '64 Bird, it's a 390 (if it was the original engine). The 390 was the only engine available in Bird's from 1961 thru 1965.

Sorry, since the issue of 61-65 390's came up thought I would add my . For info purposes, may save someone from acquiring a collection of useless pulleys. Have 65 T-Bird 390 in the 65 F100 and with the power steering upgrade found locating a 2-3 groove pulley that mounts to the 65 harmonic balance is as hard to come by has hens teeth. Oh, by the way, there is just a thing as hen's teeth. Anyhow, went to later model balance and pulley setup, never was satisfied, may have been my imagination, just seemed with the later model balance and pulley there was always this annoying vibration. Anyhow, eventually came across a 2 sheave/groove pulley that mounts to the 65 balance. (The distance between the threads on the 65 harmonic balance for mounting the pulley are slightly less that the later models harmonic balances).

Nice F 750 neetolman. I got my eye on a 48 Kenworth that I used in our fire department. Friend bought it for a $1000.00 and just has it sitting in his yard. It is almost as clean as this F 750. I will talk him out of it yet.

Bill, Yu Da Man!!, it's embarrassing when I consider all the phone calls, and salvage runs it took over several months to find the darn thing, and you locate a few of them in a matter of minutes. I am going to give them a call tomorrow, like to pick up another 2 sheave. Thanks, Bill

Tison or Klimesh will be the cheapest, Green the most expensive.
btw: There was a FTE member that had been looking for NOS 1973/79 Flareside rear bumper brackets for three years.
