Hinge pins again

My machinist made me a press to remove top hinge pins. It worked very well but those pins are definately in there. We ground the top flat and pressed them from top down instead of bottom up.

Always good to know a machinist! Does he want to sell any of those?

If you don't have one of the tools, how do you get the hinge pin out? I bought mirrors for my 50 f1 that mount to the top hinge. any advice?

4thgenford-
I took the hinges off my previous 56, set the pin area over the end of a 6" length of 3/4" pipe welded to a piece of flat stock, and proceed to beat them into submission with a punch and big hammer. By the way, if you have three hands it makes it a little easier. That's why I inquired about the press being for sale.

Sure could have used that rig. I ground off the pin heads, pickled them with PB Blaster, and needed to drill mine out quite a bit before they would budge. What a work out.

Bob Drake make those pin pullers fairly cheap and they work. We just bought one for the 40, you will destroy the outer skin with out one.

When I removed mine with the hammer/punch method the hinges were removed from the cab and doors. I would be repairing alot of sheetmetal if I had done that on the truck or just on the doors.
