electric rear slider?

I have an 01 F-150 super cab and I'm interested in an electric rear slider. (slides horizontally). I saw one down at the accessory shop. I believe it was $350 and $150 to install but the shop indicated the motor just kind of hung down behind the rear seats. I know Ford has an electric slider option that's part of the Lariat upgrade package.

Does anyone know where Ford puts the motor for the slider?
Also, anyone know who has them available? I know I can get the name of at least one mfg from the shop that sells them. However I was hoping to get actual end users opinions.\

Thanks
Tim

The one you saw was probably made by C.R. Laurence. I have installed one of thier windows on my 93. It has a gearbox/motor assembly that is about 2"+4"+24" with a plastic cable running out of it upto the window. I just put the gearbox under the back seat and ran the cable under the plastic trim upto the window. If you don't look close, you won't even notice it's there.

As for the Ford unit, I can't help you. The only ones I have seen are the CR Laurence.

Thanks. CR Laurence is the brand offered by the local shop. I hope to get one installed this spring.

One other question. Was it difficult to disconnect the door chime?

Nice looking truck you got there.

The chime is easy to disable. I am not familiar with the newest lock cylinders. One way is look at the base of the steering column under the dash and look for a plug with a single wire going up the column, just unplug it. If it doesn' have that you should be able to do what I did. Pull the lock cylinder and pull the switch off it, tape it up and stick it back in the column somewhere.

Thanks again. That sounds pretty simple. I'll have to check out my set-up. If it's the slightly more involved type it'll probably have to wait for a few weeks as I have ski trips scheduled for the next few weekends.
