Rockwell Prices?

Whats a decent price for rockwell 2 1/2 tons? I just found some for $1200. Front and rear. I'm not looking or anything but if its a good deal I might figure out something to do with them.

That is a fair deal. $1000 is a pretty good deal. $800 is a smoking deal. $1300 is too high imo.

I paid $1150 I think. When I wasn't looking for Rocks, there were multiple sub 1k f/r pairs. Then I decided I wanted a pair and I couldn't find any great deals anymore.

As far as i'm aware, the place has multiple sets of them. I think i'd only jump at it if I could find someone to buy them and make a profit, or I had a vehicle to put them on.

i think its alittle high priced if you want to make a profit off reselling them, i've seem 2 1/2 ton trucks sell for $1500 running and driving.. if you wanted to make a profit that would be the way to go.. as for a vehicle to put them under, you have one! you could sell your D60 and sterling for around $1000 for the set, than you could run 44s or bigger and not have to worry much about braking. but if 42s are the biggest your going to go, the axles you have with some lower gears, and some 35 spline outers in the D60 and you'll be fine.

Much depends on exactly which axles you are buying. Not all Rockies are the same, and some joint configurations are not too desirable.
How much do you intend to make? Not gonna be worth trying to turn.
Also, it will be tough running a rockie in a driver. Oil pan clearance and such requires quite a bit if lift.

I don't ever plan to put it in my F-350. Hell, I doubt i'll ever run anything I need one in.

My neighbors are getting front rear sets for around 1000 dollars.

Then selling the stock 60 and 10.25" axles and having extra cash left over to mount the Rockwells.

Most forget or overlook the total costs involved for rocks. NEw yokes for larger u-joints, and new wheels. Drum brakes on the stock rocks are terrible as well as heavy, so disc brakes will cost a small fortune.
Lifting the vehicle high enough to clear the center sections is a must.
Rocks are pretty cheap, but requires a ton of money to install under a vehicle.

Hey Prozon, how much do you want for that d60 front end if you end up selling it?

man!!!. I've heard of D60's getting as much as 1800 bucks here in the great white north... I was lucky and scored a whole truck for 1500... now I'm thinkin rocks would be cool...

But then I looked at parts for them on line... 1500 just for disk brake setup one one axle!... I can see how a swap could get expensive real quick!

Unless I total the truck there's not a good chance i'm selling my axles. Engines new, transmissions new. Various other things are new. I'm pretty set at the momment. I don't have the money right now to swap to a larger axle, and even if I did I think my truck would look funny with anything bigger than a 42.

My neighbors are only building mud trucks that are never road driven, so they just use the pinion brakes for stopping power.

Considering the tires they are running, passing WV inspection would be out of the question anyway.
