I know this is a truck forum, but does anyone know anything about 69 Mach 1?

Hi,

I am searching for information about a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. Does anyone know 1. How I can reasearch the VIN because it is 12 digits and all the sites ask for 17.
2. Where I can find out more about what the car is worth?
Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

A marti report (::Marti Auto Works - 1955 - 1989 Ford Parts) will give you all the build data but I do not know of any carfax type thing you can use on a vehicle that old. As for price the Marti report will help as it will give you an idea of the rarity. It all comes down to the engine it has and the options and of course the condition.

I would look in HEMMINGS. Could be worth quite a bit if its correct and original.

A burned out hulk is worth $5000+.

google "classic car values" and find:

AutoTrader Classics - Search for a Classic Car, Antique Car, Muscle Car, Collector Car

$30 to 80 THOUSAND there. (sale prices)

Gold Book Classic Cars

$14-58 THOUSAND there.

There are many others. Having computer issues or I'd look more, but you can look as easily as I can.

i would say IM a guy named NumberDummy, he is nice and can look up the VIN for you, but it might take him some time as he gets alot of these requests...

as for price NADA says:
14,000 to 46,000 but if you have a 428 cobra jet add 40% to that and an R code would be even better...and a 428 SCJ would add 65% according to them but i have always felt that their prices are on the high side...

Yeah, 428 R code cars are the gold mine, followed by the 351 windsor and the least is the 302 powered mach's. Also the machs with the factory chin spoiler, shaker hood, rear window louvers and rear deck spoiler are worth more than just a plain fastback.

The VIN is 11 digits long on all trucks thru 1980 and passenger cars thru 1979.

No 17 digit VIN's till 1980 on cars, 1981 on trucks, Econolines, Bronco's.

There is no such thing as a 12 digit VIN on any FoMoCo vehicle.

1969 Mach I sample VIN: 9R02S12345

9 = 1969

R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant

02 = Mach 1 Fastback

S = 390 4V

12345 = Numerical Sequence of Assembly

Post the VIN, and all the codes (AXLE, COLOR, TRANS, BODY, etc) from the Warranty Plate. I can decode all of it.

Wendell, mi amigo...there were no 302's installed in Mach 1's.

1969: The 351W 4V was standard equipment. The 390 4V & 428 CJ engines were optional.

"O YEAH"l, there's some on ebay hee hee!!! I didn't say they came in it, I said there not worth as much with a 302 in it. I've seen some 70-71 torino GT's with a 302 as well as 71-73 mach 1's. Did those cars come from the factory with a 302 Bill, or was it added later. It doesn't seem very performance oriented to have a 2 barrel 302 in them. My 70 torino had a 429 and a 4-speed. A lot of them on ebay have the 351 cleveland, thats mostley the 71's. There were also some 68-69 torino GT's on ebay with 302's and some are 390's. There's one 69 thats a talladga edition with a 428, they want 45,000$ for it on buy now.

Some of this stuff I know off the cuff, the rest of it takes research. I have the books, but not the time.

I had a '68 Torino Talledega 428 back in the late 1970's. Paid around 500 bucks for it, and it was like new....

But no one knew what it was, and back then it wasn't worth much more than I paid for it.

You might also check out the Vintage Mustang Forum. It's pretty good but I haven't seen anything that outshines the guys on FTE. It might be worth your time since it is mustang specific. Got a 66 coupe myself. Good Luck.

1968 Talledega's looked just like a regular 'ol Torino fastback, except the hood sloped down at the front, and the front bumper used was actually the rear bumper!

Now add to the fact the car was all (boring bland) white without the usual racing stripes, racing mirrors and other fal-der-all.

The 1969 Talledega was a different animal than the 1968. Some came with the SuperBird and Daytona's wing like tail. Try finding one of those today.
