Passenger Side Door Striker

how many pounds psi do you need to keep that thing from moving when you close the door. I installed a new one because the one was DUNN!!!! Now the door will not stay close unless I put something between the cab and the striker. Can anybody give me a suggestion on this please?

As I recall the strikers on my 55 used to slip as well. It was a long time ago, and I will probably get shot for this, but I got teh striker to where the door would close properly, then I marked it exactly. I cut a very thin gasket and put a couple SMALL dabs of epoxy on both sides of the gasket and reinstalled the striker. Seems like I had to really torque them down good - like 40 ftpds. I tested the door VERY gently before the epoxy dried to check the alignment, then let it dry - never had a bit of trouble after that.

J!

Ford made shims that looked like sand paper to put behind the striker plates for "gription". What kind of bolts are you using? Is there some kind of a lock washer under the head?
