Those pumps look pretty slick. I bet they have a pretty slick price too.

What I do is...after mixing I let it sit over night then pump the bio off of the top of the settled magnesol, that way I get several batches through my sock filters before I have to change them. With this method I don't bother with the 5 micron filters, I just use 1 micron sock filters.
Do you have pics of your setup that you would be willing to share? Looking for ideas how to set up the filtration system. thanks

OK, I have a clean 5 gallon pail with a lid. I was going to add 1 - 8oz bag to 5 gallons of de-methanolled bio and stir with a mixer. I thought that I would mix it for a half hour like you said. After that, do I filter it right away or let it set and the magnesol drop out first then filter it? I made a filter housing out of 6" pvc pipe 3' long. I have bags that are 4" by 17" that fit into a reducer to hold them... Does the oil need to be heated, or can this be done at outside temps (in the 40's now)

thanks

Trent. Let it settle overnight. Once you see just how good the bio comes out, we can walk you through a filtration set up...............

Warmer would be better.

It's supposed to warm into the 70's later this week, maybe I'll wait a bit or use the 5 gallon mini processor that I made and just heat it a 100 degrees or so.

I find that it works fine at anything over 100 deg, but know others that do it at room temps also. I pressure filter mine right after mixing, but you should do it the easy way (settling) first. Once your ready to commit to doing it for larger batches then you can build what you need to pressure filter.

Hope this pic attaches!

pic on left is unwashed bio from the processor. Right is from 1 of the 5 gallon batches after adding Magnesol, stirring, letting set about 12 hours, and then filtering. The washed bio is much sharper in color, and more of a red shade then the unwashed. I'm impressed. Thanks Don.

Your more than welcome Trent! Glad to see it's working for you. Have you guys made the decision to use the Magnesol system, or you going to go with water wash?

If worse come to worse, might just set up a dry wash area in my shed. Did I say I really like the results with Magnesol? Had a problem before with water in the bio, water in fuel light would come on every 50 miles or so, now that problem is history too. Pulled the boat up to the lake today running almost 100% bio. Honestly believe there is no power loss, and definitely does run quieter. Didn't really see any change in mileage. Only difference I notice is when I put the coals to it, it doesn't pour out black smoke like before. (passed a couple cars going up hill, the look on their faces being passed by an Excursion pulling a boat is priceless)
