I don't think there is a horse trailer made that your 2015 couldn't pull.

what specifically are you concerned about?

Shot 93 - I am getting ready to buy a new one ,3 horse LQ 13ft sw if by truck will safely handle it. I have been looking at specs and am totally confused. Dealer salesman say 20 plus pull weight but internet says a little over 16000. I do believe the truck can pull anything but I would like to feel safe without too much sway. Im not smart enough to figure all the gvwr or whatever out. Any help would be appreciated.

Read closely. 5th wheel/gooseneck rating is higher than a bumper pull (receiver hitch).

Horsetrailers are historically gooseneck for the larger ones.

7,000+lb New Holland 3930 w/loader on a 4000+lb 24' gooseneck trailer. No problems.
My dad has towed 240 square bales on the same 24' trailer with his 03 F350. A conservative estimate would be 50 lbs per bale, equaling 12,000 lbs plus trailer. Again, no problems.

So can you tell me what I add up to get the total. The trailer will weigh approx. 12+ without horses and about 28 ft long. Also do remember it is a 250 and not a dually. So is this a safe pull

It is really very simple if you think about it.

First is set your truck up as you normally would want to have on it. Tools, fuel, hitch and people.

Take your truck to a catscale. Usually at your local truck stop. There you pay 10 bucks but get a certified weight ticket.

This ticket will contain the drive, steer and total weight. Giving you the breakdown of each axle is just as important as the total.

You don't want to overload the axles or the tires.

So now take your truck weight and you can add to that the proposed trailer GVW and come up with what will be your proposed combined GVW.

Your signature picture just cracks me up every time. It reminds me of something Clark Griswold would put together to go on a trip! No insult intended. There is just sooo much going on in that picture

Most I've ever pulled was a fully or slightly overloaded 14k/lb dump trailer full of crusher run stone.

Heaviest load in the bed - anywhere from 3000-4000lbs of some sort of loose material.

Oh I know! After building the kayak racks and loading up all those on top of the tt and boat I made the comment right off the bat that it is at the point of looking comical.

You should see the array of looks I get while on the road. Everything from drop jaw to hysterical laughter.

Ive towed about 16,000 once for a few miles up a steep hill at one of the Ohio truck meets. I was impressed on how the V10 handled the load. My surprise was at how the braking lacked. The pads were Hawk brand and relatively new and Im not sure if that had anything to do with it. Of course it was down a fairly steep hill though.
