Cruise control not working in 04 fx4 any thoughts
#16
Use the shop manual. It specifically states to follow procedures any time you're working around the passive restraint system (air bag) or steering column to avoid accidental deployment. I've not ever had to service the cruise on any of the Fords I've owned, but if I did I would follow the diagnostic procedures in the shop manual. Air bags are expensive. I would suspect a switch problem in your case, but I would use the shop manual to diagnose. Could also be the clockspring in the steering column.

Do you have a part number that can be referenced when ordering one of these shop manuals? If i'm keeping this truck for a while, I'd like something to reference.
Thanks,
Kevin

I don't have a part number on the shop manuals, but Helms Publishing is the company that does them for Ford. I know a complete set isn't cheap, but if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time it's worth it. You might be able to get a Motor Repair manual for less money. The Helms manuals can be ordered directly online from them or you can get them from your dealer.
