Exclamation Duralast Dirty Brake Pads SUCK. Going back to Motorcraft.

My OEM front pads lasted 91,000 miles. No dirt to speak of. I replaced them with "duralast gold" which I was 'told' weren't dirty. BULL. They are the dirtiest pads I have ever seen. The last 9,000 miles I am sick and tired of having to polish my front rims clean while the backs are squeaky clean.

Anyone bought motorcraft pads again. Do you think they are still made the same as they were 15 years ago? - as in (non-dirty).

Looks like I can get Motorcraft BR46 for around $50 for the set.

my guess is the dealers... my stang has a lil over 31K on it and my front ones got rated ing the moderately worn catagory.. ive been looking online for the last couple days trying to see who all has the motorcraft pads.. but cant find any of the normal parts dealers carrying them.. so id have to say theyll be a dealer only buy.. just like the anti-freeze im looking for...

ive slowly been finding out that theres not alot of stores outside of the dealers willing to carry motorcraft stuff... autozone, advance and walmart carry the oil filters.. i know advance carrys the oil... and have managed to get some parts ive needed from O'Reileys online cheaper than i could from the dealership.. but like i said i think the only people who are going to have the brake pads are going to be the dealer.. cuz i cant find them at stores outside of them...

would've never left motorcraft. I'm HARD on my brakes, and they've done 30,000 so far. With very little dust. and excellant stopping power.

Hard, long-lasting pads means more wear on discs. You loose either way.

I replaced my originals (I believe) at about 118K. The Carquest replacements were okay, and weren't completely gone when I replaced them around 211K. They did go through spells of squeaking during probably the last 30K I had them on. No dust though.

This time I got Motorcraft brake pads and rotors from Ford. The pads were actually slightly cheaper than parts stores. They offered me two grades: normal use and a "super duty" type. I chose the heavier ones and have no issues at all. I could tell the quality difference between Motorcraft and parts stores just by looking at them.

BTW: When doing my brake/wheel bearing repack job I discovered Motorcraft front end seals are cheaper than Carquest or Napa. Especially the 95-96 wheel seals.
