302 Shorty Header (summit) ?

Anyone put a shorty header from summit on there 302? Did you have to have the y pipes flared to get a complete exhaust seal (where header meets y-pipe)? I used summit part # sum-G9035. It looks like I'm either running out of thread on the bolts provided and can't pull the fit together tight enough to make it seal.Or the spherical fit of the header to Y-pipe is not going to seal as is and the y-pipe needs to be flared. Anyone else run into this.

Thanks,
Ray

Actually, when I tried to bolt my flanged purple hornies on to the header collecter I ran into a similar problem. Turns out the collector was angled funny. That may or may not be the problem, but it's worth checking out.

Just installed these headers and had no problem with getting a tight fit. Just added flat washers and lock washers to them. Sealed tight with no leaks. :-X12

With mine, I had to strong arm my y pipe a little. It sealed great, but was a pain to get it lined up just right. After like 20 minutes it just lined up. Other wise a very easy install. By the way that was only with the passenger side header.
