Grease Hub bearing assymbly wheel bearings

I'm sure someone has mentioned this but I'll throw it out there anyway.
I just installed four ball joints, pass. side bearing assy and complete axle shaft, and seals,, and warn hubs. (I nearly had to sell every fluid my body makes)

Well, I am now taking apart old axle just to see how.
And Im takeing apart wheel bearing now and stoped to ask you something I thought of.

MY question: What if we made a zerk fitting that screws into the abs hole on the hub to shoot a little grease in form time to time?

Will the grease get to both sets of the wheel bearings?

One thing I know for sure is I will be pulling the dang hubs off to grease the inside axle support bearing every 40K miles

to all the great people here and thanks for all the info I'v learned this year and before that too!!

Update, I pulled bearing assy. apart and it seems grease will go to both bearings. I wonder If the grease will affect the sending unit?

Anyway, at 70K miles on the bearings, they had plenty of lube left, just a dry axle support bearing.

I'm going to start welcoming the new year now,
Ryan signing off

Good night

You mean a fitting like this? I made up about 20 of these last year and shipped them out to members here. They work great.

I have been doing this for quite some time - since replacing both front hub assemblies a few years back.
Once a year I lube these hubs by inserting an old rubber spark plug boot over my grease gun hose and the smaller end fits snugly into the ABS sensor hole. I then pump a shot or two of grease and rotate several times. Repeat this several times until the rotation stiffness is close to the original bearing feel. I have not noticed any problem with the ABS sensor and the grease - i.e. No ABS codes.
Too much grease will force it out around the inner hub assembly seal - not good.
I have approx. 200k miles on the second set of hub bearings using the lube method.

Good luck,

Allright Scott, thanks for the drawing. That is kinda what I was thinking. Its time to fire up the lathe

Wow, 200k on the bearings! Thats what I'm talken bout.

What is the best grease to use?
I have some lightblue colored stuff in my gun now. I think it might be synthetic, i don't remember. Seems to work for all the joints just fine.
Thanks for the help.
Lube on,

Ryan

Forget the 75 thou-wide o-ring groove. Absolutely unnecessary.

Threads could also be 1/4-28 for SAE zerk.

Turned from a 1/2" bolt shank.

I use the blue CAT chassis-lube grease.

Here's what it looks like:

The credit for the drawing and design goes to Marv (SpringerPop). All I did was make them up.

Hey Ryan,

Make a few extra and put me on the top of the list. I will someday do you a favor or pay it forward.

I run a CNC mill and EDM machines. I don't run a CNC lathe. I will make one or two on the manual lathe.
I'll try to get my buddy to make up a large quantity on the HAAS when we have some down time.

Thanks springerpop

So are you pulling the ABS sensor out of the bearing assy and inserting this grease plug? The just reinserting the ABS sensor?
