351W exhaust routing for 79 F150 4x4?

Im scrappin my 300 and droppin in a 351w. What is the easiest way to route the exhaust? Can I run true duals and exit in front of rear wheel wells on each side or will I need to run a y-pipe to the pass side to get around the t-case? I would rather a y-pipe into a single 3" exhaust, but for now Im looking for the easy way to get back on the road. What do u guys run? Pics?

a 3" exhaust, in my opinion, is way too big a pipe for these trucks. the norm for these trucks is 2.25"......no bigger than 2.5".

lemme ask you "why you gettin' rid of the 300?" more power? V8 sound?

I have a 300. if it's exhaust that you want for the 300 throw a IMCO Extreme ($29) or Cherry Bomb Extreme ($51) on there. I have a Flowmaster 10 series which is a single chamber muffler......the Extremes cousin that costs a lot more.

351W, great engine, but the 300 is such a stout engine, too.

He said single 3", which is fine....

Sorry, I can't help you with routing around the transfer case. My truck has full dual exhaust, but is 2wd.

The 300 is going on the stand for a rebuild. Needs a new block or head. Either my machinist jipped me and never pulled the valves to check for cracks or my block is junk. So I'll put in this 351w that has a stout bottom end($2000) bored .030 with an RV cam and put a 2bbl on er. When the 300 is done getting some beef, I may sell it to re coop the cost of the swap. I only paid $750 for the short block and the guy is gonna rebuild a set of heads for $200. I have a complete windsor from a 77 in my garage......somewhere. It would cost me about $2000 for a 300 built like this windsor.

I would choose the single 3" over duals honestly. Dr. Dirt 3" would only be too big if he was running true duals and in that case I would suggest 2.25" pipe even though I'm running 2.5" duals.

o, 3" inch pipe on a single exhaust. I was thinking 3" duals. I guess that should work fine. Chevy does it on their 6.0 gas. of course that's modern technology and a Chevy.

well mine is 2.25" pipe on my 300 into this:

to the left is a turndown. to the right is the engine....no cat.

thanks

since my muffler is a single chamber and Flowmaster doesn't make them anyone, when I dual it out I'm gonna take off the muffler, keep it, and get two Cherry Bomb Extremes.

The only way to do a true dual would be to exit the fender well on the driver's side due to the transfer case being bolted to the side of the frame. The 3" single is pretty good even on the newer trucks, I doubt you will complain much about it.

You could do true dual but run it down the passenger side, but 3" single would be just fine.

A 351 is merely the Child of a 300 and 302 love fest.

In other words, a 351 is the best of both motors. You do pay for it in fuel though.

I'd straight pipe it or short-glasspack-it. Just me, personally.
