I have a 2005 excursion 4x4 6.0 PSD.
I noticed in my driveway that I have a leak.. The truck has 49384 on it.
Is this repair going to be covered by ford or is this out of pocket for me?
Any information would be great. 49k and the front seal is leaking thats early for that to be leaking?????

I forgot,, its the seal on the rear diff. where the shaft comes in right near the u joints.. I'm new with the stuff guys, so sorry with my terms.....

 

block wheels, set park brake, put truck in neutral not park and go underneath , see how much movement you have in the ujoint beside the leak. unless its truly defective seals generally fail when the seal and bearing are subjected to excess vibration. i'm pretty sure it should still be covered but if not it shouldn't be a whole lot of $ just be sure they find out why it went bad. the other thing to check is that the diff vent isn't plugged, pressure is the other seal killer

 

Tranny and rear end problems are covered under the 3/36,000 mile warranty. The 05 is out of warranty unless you have an exteded warranty.
