Gas fumes?

I have been having gas fumes coming into the cab of my 99 sd f250 truck 5.4 triton. I don't see any leaks, but the fumes are getting pretty bad. Any ideas on whats going on? Truck runs good except for a little miss when driving around 35-45 mph. Thanks

I would say it has to be exhaust. What's the condition of the fittings and pipes?

More info what is your rig and all that jazz. I just posted on another topic about the miss at 35 mph and 45 mph how are your u-joints? When you talk about the engine missing it has to do with rpm not mph. On smelling fumes if your mpg hasn't gone down it probably is exhaust you are smelling. You may have a leak somewhere if you hear a ticking somewhere and it is not your injectors bingo. Otherwise best advice I have would to be rock n' roll with the windows down.

Check the hoses going to the charcoal canister from the fuel tank.

Are you sure the miss was from the coil?

First thing that popped into my head was that you had a gas leak somewhere in the gas delivery/gas rails and that was also causing a low fuel pressure issue that caused the miss. (The miss was from losing gas pressure, cause there was a leak somewhere upstream of the injectors.)

Anyway, the fuel filter on this truck is somewhere just below the driver door. Check the fittings around that also. But I suspect you've got a leak either where the lines connect to the fuel rails or around the gas pressure regulator itself.
