I've used SeaFoam before but not for freeing up sticky lifters. I had a carb idle problem that resisted all efforts at tuning, so I added some SeaFoam to the gas tank and also dripped a little into the carb. It made some smoke out the exhaust but not a huge amount. Anyway, the engine seemed to run a LOT better afterwards, so it was worth it to me. Wal*Mart has it for about $3 a can less than most auto parts stores.

I had a problem with my 77 300 I6 with sticky intake valves. Several friends told me to change the oil and put in a quart, or two of ATF, or Marvel mtstery oil in the crank case and run it for 500 miles.

A freind bought a BMW that had been setting for a long time and the mechanic at the dealship told him to try the ATF in the crank case which he did and it wortked and everthing got real quiet and been running smooth ever since.

I put Marvel mystery oil in my fuel tank of my 96, now it ran good, but I could notice it had an increased smoothness to it. I am going walmart tomorrow I am going to look for sea foam to see what its all about.
