1994 F-150 lift
I have a 1994 F-150 supercab, shortbed. I am wanting to put a lift on it to allow for bigger tires. I was told that a 4" with 33's is better than 6" with 35's. They told me that the 6" makes it hard to aline the front end right and that i would be better off with a 4". If any one has any thoughts on this please let me know. Also, could i run the 33's on the factory rims?

I don't know who told you that but a 6" lift is no problem, it is the same as a 4". You will need extended brake lines, i recommend skyjackers stainless steel ones from 4wheelparts.com unless u can find cheaper(front and back by the way). The 4 and 6 inch lift kits use the same bracketry, the only difference is the coil springs. 35s would not be a problem but you would have to change gears in your rear and front, if u have one. I have a 4" superlift on my 2wd and it rides great. Skyjacker is a slight bit better than superlift however. You will also need new shocks. Skyjackers are good i've heard. Superlift's were awful, and after 1,000 miles i swapped my front ones out for new Rancho RS5000s and have been happy with those.

By the way, you could run 33 by 10.5s on the factory rims, but not 12.5s. The rims are just to skinny, it has been done before but, i would highly recommend that you don't do it. I already tried to get opinions on getting 33s because i wanted them but, just cant do it on the factory rims, and i didnt want to get new rims because mine are all alluminum and very very light. I am running 32 by 11.5s on my eddie bauer rims. Those will fit on there even though they are still about a 1/2 inch too skinny. You might want to think about getting 32s if u get a 4" lift. They fit my wheel wells good and don't bog the engine down to much, i do have 3.55s though. They are only a 1/2 inch smaller all the way around vs the 33s, so when you think about it, there really isn't much of a difference. If you wanted 33s, they would have to be 10.5 inches wide which, is a very skinny looking tire.

also with 35's you may not need to change your gearing. I didn't in mine and it works fine still. It has pretty good pep, and i only have the 5.0. I'm currently running 3.31 gears, and the only downside is that if its windy on the highway i usually can't run in overdrive above 70. If you don't speed you don't have to worry about it though.

Go with the Procomp stage 2 lift. I've installed a couple and they are very well designed. There is nothing wrong with 6" lift. Is your truck 2x4 or 4x4? If its 2x4 and you are going to bend the I beam instead of using the drop down brackets, I would be interested in buying the brackets.

i used to have a 2.5" tuff country lift and it sucked. the camber was horable. i currently have a 4" Tuff country lift. i think it is the best because it includes a adjustable camber bolt fittin gon the drop bracket. I personaly hate the dana44 twin ibeam front end! if i was to go larger then a 4" lift i would recomend some other rig or a solid axle swap. because having a 6" bracket on the crossmember i think is just asking for trouble.

>the ttb front axle is a good design. It combines the
>strength of a solid axle with the ride of ifs.
wrong, the ttb is not as strong as a solid. it has too many moving parts and the body mounts are weaker than a leaf spring. it is pretty strong but not as strong as a solid. thats why so many true off road Ford people (like me) have gone or will go to a solid front.

well i would beg to differ. Moving parts doesn't mean that its any weaker. Moving parts means that it will articulate easier. Most people that are swapping to solid front axles are swapping because they want heavier axles, such as a dana 60. No the ttb is not as strong as a dana 60, but i would put my ttb dana 44 up against any other dana 44 solid axle.
