1975 camper special camper bolt hole repair
Just wondering what the best way to plug or pach the 2 top holes and 2 bottom holes on my doors that had the big camper mirrors. I just wanted to save a little money because I'm going to have the truck painted @ the body shop. Or is it even worth the trouble. thanks

There are basically two ways to accomplish this...
1. Remove the inner panel and apply a fiberglass patch to the inside, then use a fiberglass plastic filler to the outside, finishing like any other bodywork
2. Braze the holes closed and apply plastic filler to finish. I prefer brazing to welding due to lower heat requirements and less panel warpage.

Any time you use a torch for anything on a large panel like that ,,expect trouble ...& any warpage is too much...
by the time the panel is hot enough to melt even the smallest diameter braze ,,it will be too late...
If you are going to weld them shut ,,back up the hole with a piece of brass ,,& stich weld it with a low amp setting on a wire feed welder ,one or two short bursts ,,cool it immediately with air,,keep going until the hole is gone ..
I have done this many times ,with no need for filler ,,but it requires extreme patience....
If you fill it with any kind of filler , it most likely will crack in the shape of the hole ..It may not fall out ,,but it will be visible
It depends on whether you want it done ,or done correctly ...
