Well, I'm 23. I spent the first years out of HS getting an Associates (I took three years for mine, split it up to where I was considered full time and still worked 40hrs a week) now I'm going to a tech school in West Sacramento and I'll be done the end of March...

Plan to open my own shop on the side while working someplace else...

not to mention i've got a degree in auto collision repair. i went to school for 18 months and got certified. only to find out it's not what i want to do. but it sure makes fixing my truck up easier.

Ha, that's what I'm doing here in Sacramento. Will be doing more along the lines of classics and chassis building...

we did a couple cool things. a 97 power stroke. rebuilt from the frame up, and used burnt orange ryno lining to paint the whole body. and a 67 mustang with a BOSS 302. but it was the unibody crap i couldn't deal with. if i was working with sheet metal and frame over vehicles i'd be all for it.. but unfortunately, a shop like that is hard to come by..

The best advice I've EVER heard about life and work:

"If you do what you love for a living, you'll never work a day in your life."

completely true. i have had jobs that werent what i loved to do and i dreaded going to work. it paid and i did the job but didnt enjoy it i worked, not played. i worked at a shop and i loved every minute of it. i was early every day and stayed late. came in when i didnt have to. it was awesome and i found what i love to do. just my 2 cents
Where are you located? I'm going to ATI in Virginia Beach to be a diesel mechanic too. Not sure if I want to work on big rigs and tractors or on Powerstrokes. haha

Hell yeah man I got the same deal. I can't imagine anything else but the country life. It defines who I am and keeps me straight and better than all them city *******s (no offense to none). I am also gettin ready to graduate this year and heading off to college. I am sure of where I am going too! Rose-Hulman. I take it as a great opportunity since they only take 500 freshmen each year. It'll really suck since I won't be able to raise my horse or sheep or nothing. It will all come back. I myself am planning to become a biochemist and have a farm of my own in the works (as well as a few Fords and a pretty girl by my side ).
