Whats the cheapest way to get around 3-4" lift?
I'm thinking add a leaf in the back, and those 2 inch spacers and leveling coils in the front.
Can i fit leveling coils AND a 2 inch spacer in the front??
My tires fit, but the truck would look sweet with a slight lift... and the clearance is good too!

No go with the 2" spacers and coils, it will put the truck to far out of alignment, you'd need axle pivot brackets, and by that time you should jsut by a lift kit. 4" lift=700 with shocks. Get 2" coil spacers, and a 2-3" body lift. Thats the cheapest, its not the best way to go about things, but it'll be ok.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Sep-02 AT 04:09 AM (EST)]You would be Better off with the Leveling Coils (50min, Install) and the 2" Body, I like the way this makes a truck look with 32" Tires.
I seen one with this done for sale Last friday but it was EB and the Ugly Colors really made me want to Vomit but the Lift Looked great and he could have fit 33" under there and still looked good, My truck now looks the way i want it to with the Leveling Coils and the 32's
It just costs too much now a days to lift a truck considering most people see no Off Road Use but just want looks, The Lift, Tires, Gears, Labor.... It all adds up to you buying an old '76 1/2ton w/ 6in sus & big tires...
Good Luck

also you could if you want get the skyjacker 2" lift kit(P/N SKY182K, comes with rear add-a-leafs and front coils) and a 2" body lift from www.4wheelparts.com and install them yourself and spend less than 400 bucks. Giving you 4" of lift total. I got the 2" suspension kit for my truck, but I haven't had a chance to install it yet.

I'm very suprised you were able to align that thing, our trucks don't align very well. I wouldn't recommend doing that, the axle pivot brackets are a much better idea, but either way, you've got options.

I did 2" coils in the front and a 2" body lift, total cost $140 (if you don't include the cost of new shocks). It looks great - the 2" body lift is much more subtle than the 3" - not nearly as much of a gap. I fit 33's easily. The body lift was pretty easy, just make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY, you'll save yourself several hours' work and head-scratching.

if you look at my galley you will see the leveling coils and the spacers on the front without the use of pivot bushings and it is in alignment also instead of an add-a-leaf for the rear there is a pic of ashackle flip that will give you 3"s of lift in the rear for aprox $3.00 i had to spend on grade 8 bolts for the leaf spring mounts to bolt back on the frame I am running 35's on the truck and a 3' body lift

I heard that you arn't suppose to have 4" of lift (leveling coils and spacers) without axle pivot brackets because it puts to much strain on the ball joints, or some other reason. Why else would they give you them with a 4" suspension lift. Did you get a full 2" lift from the coils? Maybe that is why, i'm not sure, but thats what i heard.

Ok, i'm thinking of this:
It wouldn't be hard to fabricate my own rear blocks out of alluminum.
then i would just need to buy U-bolts for the back.
Are 4" blocks safe for the back? I noticed there are "factory blocks" or something inbetween the axle and leaf springs. So the blocks i made would need to be 4" taller than those, which seem to be about 2-3". That seems a bit big. How tall are the blocks in 6" lift kits?
Now comes the front end.
What do they give you in a 6" lift kit to raise the front end of the truck? I have a 150 4x4 with the coil over springs. Do they just give you radius arms and new coils??
I'm very interested in fabricating my own, perhaps higher quality than a kit, parts.
sounds like a project to me. What do you guys think?

Don't fab your own parts, it's not safe. Lift blocks are really cheap anyway. The blocks are cast iron, strong, atleast the ones i had were. The 4x4 stockers are 2", and I wouldn't go any higher then that for blocks. Usually they put 4" blocks and either add-a-leafs or new leaf springs, its ok but not my preference. Add-a-leafs stiffen the ride to get the lift, the best way is with new leaf springs. 6" lifts use 6" front coil springs and new radius arms, or radius arm drop brackets. The bigger the lift blocks in the rear, the more axle wrap you are able to get, it creates leverage. I personally would not put more than 2" of blocks on there. 4" is ok, but not great. My lift setup of choice, would be 6" leaf springs, or at a cheaper price 2" blocks and 4" springs.

allright i think i'm going to look around and see what the cheapest way to do this is.
I just put my truck on a jack and i think i NEED a 6"! It looks so much more... truck.
a 3" body lift would make it look real nice too... are those hard to install?
Do you guys know a website where i can look at prices for 6" leaf springs and Radius arms and coil overs and such?
Thanks for all the help

Body lifts are ok, but their appearance is sub-par to suspension lifts. If appearance is a major factor, go suspension all the way. I am going to go ahead and suggest that you don't try to find the cheapest way out. If you do that, you'll never be happy with the ride quality and you will have a sub-par suspension and handling characteristics. If you want 6" of lift, do light off roading, get a 4" suspension "kit" at 700 w/ shocks, extra 80-100 bucks for brake lines and your set. Throw a 2" body lift in there and for under 1,000 bucks you have a 6" lift kit that'll ride similar to stock. If you start trying to cheaply put things together, it'll never be to your liking so i'm not even going to think about suggesting that to you. If you're going to do some serious off roading, a complete 6" lift with everything you need, is 1500 bucks for skyjacker from NTWonline, i priced one out already. It's a lot easier to do just 1 suspension lift, than a 4" suspension lift and a 2" body lift.
