Sound proofed the truck

I installed a Dynamat material (knock off of Dynamat). I must say the difference is very noticable. Getting the rear seats out was a PAIN, but got it done.

I did the back wall, floor in the front and back so far. Thinking about doing the door panels too. How hard are the door panels to get off?

Shouldn't be too bad as long as you've got the right trim tool

You don't even need a trim tool for these panels. A small, flat blade screw driver will pop off any of the covers you need to remove to get to the screws, at least with power windows. I guess I've never taken a panel off one of these trucks with manual windows, so that may be a bit different.

Door panels are extremely easy (at least in mine, i have power nothing. Lucky to have power steering) a couple screws and the whole panel slides up and off.

How do you remove the rear seats, i was wondering about putting dynomat in my truck also.

This is something I've been considering since I installed long tube headers with high flow cats. I love the sound but its a bit too much for day to day cruising around.

^^Me too. I find my truck pretty quiet, but if you're telling me there's a noticeable difference I might have to try for myself. I did my old Blazer years ago, and it was night and day difference.

I purchased mine from:

Drivetrain and Underhood Accessories-Dodge Cummins and Ford Power Stroke Diesel Truck Accessories - Geno's Garage

I've known the folks at Geno's Garage for years. Very easy to deal with, best return policies. Insulates head/cold as well as sound. I've used it under the driver's carpet on my Super Duty and will soon be adding it to the back of the cab under the carpet on my F150.

Did you cover the 2 back vents behind the seat?

I did that about a year ago with this stuff called "eDead" which was a lot cheaper then Dynamat and it made a noticeable difference but I have'nt done behind the rear seats yet. It definitively helped in the doors though for the rattles I had from the subs under the seats.

I wonder if this stuff is the same but non-self-adhesive stuff they use for wrapping heating ducts. Our local hardware chain store sells it by the foot wide roll for somewhat cheap.
I assume the adhesive is permanent, so it'll be a fuzzy mess if you change your mind later.

I'm tempted to try some aluminized water heater jacket material to achieve the same. A sheet big enough to wrap a 60gal water heater goes for $20
It's about 1/2" thick and fairly dense. That's more than enough to cover the back wall.

The heating duct tape is not as "sound absorbent". I used it first and found that it needs to be doubled or tripled to be effective.

I ended up soundproofing my Excursion with B-Quiet. Not as expensive as Dynamat but very effective! I've yet to do the roof but hear that it makes a big difference. However, the doors and the floor pan up front was the biggest change for me.
