Grey white exhaust smoke

I haven't been around this forum for some time(stuck on the gun forums), So Hi all.

What is the final prognosis on the white/grey exhaust smoke issue. I know some folks were having this issue a while back. I noticed this with my F250 6.4 PSD for the first time today, the truck has around 16k miles and has ran flawlessly up till the yesterday when I got the wrench dash warning. Then today I noticed it blowing some smoke for the first time ever. Any thoughts???

I did a search and wasn't able to come up with anything.

My truck also did it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and from what I understand it is normal and occurs during regeneration.

If you got the "wrench" I think it would be a good idea to take it in.

sounds like maybe the DPF is clogged.

Finally got my truck back from the dealer

God.. I hate taking my rig into the dealer, takes them forever to fix things it seems like. Anyways, they said the problem was the accelerator circuit was bad. It took a few days to get the part in so that kinda sucked.

I'm not sure if this is what was causing the smoke issue but it hasn't done it yet so I'm hopeful. It does explain some issues I was having when cruising along in traffic with minor adjustment in acceleration and it feeling kinda choppy.

Anyone else have to have this fix done????

I had that happen one week ago. I was turning a corner and noticed the smoke, I just peged the throttle and it eventualy went away. No warning lights of any kind though. I must say it was kinda cool plowing all that smoke.

Grey and white smoke is when engine and exhaust are not up to normal opertaining temp. and it's cold outside. Mine does it once in while when I have let motor warm up a little bit and go out and drive or you idle to much and then drive stop go traffic and then maybe get on interstate and then it will do it.

It only happens when it's cold out for me. I have never had problem in summer for me.

Mine started smoking after driving 175 miles on the one freeway and trying to merge into traffic on another. I steped on it to blend into traffic and all I had was lots of white smoke and no power. I drove another 600 miles that day with no futher problems. I'm sure my truck was in regen when this happened. My job 1 truck doesn't tell me when I'm in regen yet!

It has happened to me maybe 4 times. Seems like every 3K miles or so. I have 12K on the truck. Seems like it does it during Regen. I can fell the engine retarding and loss of power and turbo. Feels like something might be wrong especially seeing the freaking white smoke pour out. But it goes back to normal after a few minutes. Power and turbo come back and the smoke stops. Really hit the throttle one time and it poured smoke all over the highway..People probably thought I was going to blow up. Figuered if something was really wrong it is under warranty. The people probably thougth I will never buy a FORD....It does not always pour somke during regans though..I have had a couple without smoke but loss of power and turbo...Returns to normal aftera few minutes....???????

This concern is one of the reasons the new PCM reflash 08B07 is out. As far as I know it only happens during regen mode and the smoke it due to excessive fuel coming into the DPF and it happens usually at lower speeds or starting from a stop.

that makes sense, I was taking off from sitting at a red light. I did not mind it at all. The smoke was great.
