May be getting a 90-91 EFI 460/5 speed 4x4 f250, in a few months> Anything I need to know about these trucks? What are their hangups? etc..
What problems should I look for? The front axle is coming out and mid 80's D60 going in, and will do a body swap with my 79 crew and a really short cut down bed.

 

Does it look like the truck's been abused? How does the motor sound? Rust?

I'm in Owensboro and am familiar with the Leitchfield area, so I doubt you'll find any more or less rust than a truck here would have.

460s are pretty tough, but I had issues in our church's van (which was NOT used hard or excessively) with the main bearings. That was in a motor with less than 110K. I don't think that is the norm, though.

Gas mileage is gonna stink, but you know that going in.

Just make sure the basics are sound and you should have no real trouble. Keep us posted!

 

Check out my thread "fuel mileage" for ideas in that department. Mine made it 316K miles before needing replaced and that was only the head gaskets.
