How to activate Sirius
I have a Sirius radio in my '06 F150 I just got. I need to activate it... With Aux button I get Sirius Sat 1, Sat 2 and Sat 3. It says call Sirius at 1-888-..... I went to there website and they mention needing the device SID# or something??? Where can I locate this or do I even need it to activate. Can't they activate by VIN#? I emailed Sirius and have not gotten a response. Thanks,
Steve

Hi Everyone, my 2010 F-150 King Ranch is Sirius Ready, and it comes with a 6 month free subscription. It has the Sony Navigation package, (next generation navigation system touch screen). I've already registered with sirius (gave them my radio's ESN), but im not able to select sat mode on the radio. It shows FM1-2, AM but not the SAT tab. I went to the dealer but they are clueless on how to enable this option. Basically I have a Sirius ready radio without the option to go in SAT mode. Any help will be greatly appretiated.

Something is wrong: all you have to do is turn the radio on and press the Aux button on the right side of the radio and Sat 1 will come up. Hit it again for Sat 2, and once more for Sat 3. Just out of curosity, is there an antenna on the roof over the passenger front seat? I cannot believe your dealer is clueless..........................

Well on the instructions, it says that on the next gen radio it's no longer on the aux, its on the radio tab. (but I also checked on aux, and it only shows line in and BlueTooth). , The antenna's there, the Radio has the ESN, it even has the SIRIUS Travel link ESN. Iv'e made sure there's a strong signal where I've parked to setup the configuration. I believe it's either programming or something's not wired. The guy at the dealer checked other units and they have the same behaviour. It definitively smells like programming to me...

Thnx for your help! I've called Sirius cust care a couple of times now, they always redirect me to the dealer. I found out that there is an onboard diagnostics, which I ran, and I can detect that the radio does recieve a Sirius signal, and even has the default programmed stations. The official answer from my Ford dealer was that my vehicle isnt Sirius ready... I'll keep going. Thnx again and I'll keep you informed.

Do you have a sirius receiver connected to the radio? I believe Sirius "ready" means you can control the Sirius channels with the head unit but the head unit may not receive the satelite signal itself. I may be wrong... all my Sirius equipment is 12 years old. I do have a Kenwood head unit that's 2-3 years old and a Sirius tuner (box) that's 1998 era had no problem. In short- head unit to sirius receiver to antenna.

Well, the diagnostics say SDARS installed = 01 and it does display a SDARS Signal Strength, ESN and Travel Link ESN. On the new sony nav, pressing presets 3 & 6 for a couple of secs & while the vehicle is stopped will display a couple of diagnostics (its easier with the radio off so you dont screw up your presets). One of them is the SDARS signal strength. And my unit does display a signal strength of 2-3. So far I've escalated the case to Ford Co (not the dealer) and they want to meet with me.. I'll keep you posted. Thnx again for replies.

I finally got my Sirius Tab. A Ford official called Sirius and opened a support case (apparently something I as a mere customer couldn't do). Nothing was done to my truck, nothing at all, he said he would contact me as Sirius told him to contact Ford (haha). The call was made around 10 am. I got out of work at 5:30 pm, and out of the blue, as I'm changing from FM to Media, Satellite Radio was available. I called him to thank him, and guess what? He had no idea it was fixed or how it was done. So something was done by the Sirius support ppl. Even the Travel Link is working. If you encounter this situation, Sirius can help, but I guess the call has to be placed by a Ford rep.
