OK stupid question time
Yup its time for another of my famous dumb questions. I have an 88 f-250 with the 302/5.0 and its shot, gone, blown . I have a chance to get another 302 but its from a mustang not sure what year I know the 302 isn't ideal for mudding/trail running but the deal I had on the 351 fell thru.
Will the 302 from the mustang work?? Will it bolt up the same as the old one? or will I have to mod a few things to get it to work.
see i told ya'all it was one of my famous questions
lol dont bash me to much

Yup, same block....
Is it a 302ho?
Also what year is it coming out of....
Alot of the mustang 302's made more power than the truck 302's...
Not sure on the years and what not,
But to answer your question, yes it will work with no "mods" you might have to use a few things off your truck 302 though...

Thank you for clearing that up, I didnt think it wouldbe much of an issue since both are FI just wasn't 100% sure. and yes it is a 302ho will find out the year for sure this weekend.
The old motor my be shot but gotta give Ford credit was able to get me home 15-20 miles running on probably 4 cylinders before she finally died lol
Last time the wife will ever take it thru the mud pits here

Its a 302 out of a 98 GT with a 5 speed. The truck also has a 5 speed if that matters.
I'm getting the whole car pretty much at scrap price. Its been sitting in his garage for about 2 years after he got rear ended pretty bad, back bumper was pushed almost to the back seat. gonna have to post pics when i get the car here.
Went to check it out today and it actually started right up with a quick jump not sure how with all the rear end damage I figured it wouldnt get any gas but it did. So do I still need the computer out of a 351 or can I use the one out of the mustang Other then maybe getting a fuel pump/sending unit that works for a mustang I dont see much of a difference. can someone clear this part up for me
thanks

Oh and while the moter is out I'm ripping out the ttb and replacing it with a straight axle D44. I know, I know a D44 Isnt the best option considering I'm running 36's but its alot better then the ttb junk thats in there now and for the price a D60 around here I can build one hell of a mall crawler or a lifetime supply of axles that I know I'll need 1 day. Sooner then later when the mustang moter goes in

I think it was....
I did a 302 swap in my bronco that was EFI. If you pull the intake off and get rid of all the EFI *****, buy a carb and an intake it will bolt right on and you wont need the computer crap. You may need to change the oil pan and sump. Atleast I did with mine, my motor was out of a grand marquis so I'm not to sure how the mustang will look. Even so, just pull it off your blown motor and switch it over.

Thanks Slug you made me do some research and you were right.
The 98 GT ran the 4.6 not the 5.0 from what i found. I'm not sure but I think the older body style ran with the 5.0. guess I'm going to have to some more research but you saved me from getting screwed. Back to the drawing board and a trip thru the boneyards. MAybe I'll get lucky and find that 351 after all
See thats why I come here always good advice and help
