No spark issue on 1985 F350

New user here. Hope you guys can help. I have a 1985 F350 with a 460 v8. Then engine turns but it doesn't start. There appears to be gas getting to the carb. The spark plugs are in relatively good shape, The cap and rotor are somewhat worn but appears to be normal wear. I've tested the coil and I get proper resistance readings. I am stumped. I hate stuff like this and I'm positive it's something really simple. What are some other tests I might do or does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

I'd pull a wire and check if you're getting spark at all, if not I'd pull the codes and look at the distributor. If you have the TFI ignition its probably the module inside.

spark???

The no spark issue is a big one. There is no computer on an 85 460. I have three 85's and 86. The tip to check for spark is important. If do not have spark, then you need to check a few things. First is there 12 volts to the coil + when the key is on. I like to take a 12 Volt test light and put it between the coil - terminal and ground. It should blink when you crank the engine over. If it does not blink the pickup coil in the distributor is bad or the module assuming all the wiring is good. 9 times out of ten it is the module. Of course the trucks are over 20 years old now and wiring problems is also possible. The ignition module is on the drivers side fender well and they go bad frequently. I learned the hard way, but always use a Motorcraft module, none of the others are worth anything. Let me know what you find and I can step you through more troubleshooting if necessary

JWR, thanks for the advice. I changed the ignition module and if fired right up! Now, I'm having a margarita.
