One thing to remember with the ESOF, lock the hubs manually. You can pop a hub if you do a boosted 4wd launch with it vacuum locked only. If you manually lock them, they'll do just fine.
The weakest link is going to be the transmission. Stock trans doesn't do all that well with too many boosted launches. Doubtful you'll break anything right now, but you keep launching it hard again and again, and you'll have to explain to daddy why the torque converter is slipping.
Oh, and if the truck is stock, you won't be able to do a 20 lbs boosted launch. Just get the RPM's up, when the brakes can barely hold..... GO!!!!!!!

Saw this thread a little bit ago. Then this past week while Pinks All Out, some guy was racing a Dodge 2500? Diesel. He launched in 4WD and was pretty darn quick. He caught the eye of the Pinks crew. I do know he made it into the top 16. Not sure how much farther he went, as I had to go to work.

There isn't a track around me. And the only reason I'm racing the kid is to shut him up because he thinks his taurus is top ****. And I want to prove what a diesel truck can do.

This is a bad idea. I'm not trying to put you down or judge you but I have seen way too many fatal accidents involving teenagers in high school who were racing. Even if you are in control, the other driver may not be. Way too many variables that can go wrong. I've even seen a case where two teenagers were racing, one lost control, flipped his car and crashed into a brick sign killing him. The other driver was charged with involuntary manslaughter. Not to mention if you get caught in the act you can lose your license, your truck, and even go to jail. < /soap box rant >

Most of the time a Taurus = SLOW, but the later model (not sure on the years, the second gen model) SHO's were packing V8's under their hoods (heck even the first gen SHO's are running snotty v6's/with a manual 5-speed). Be cautious and do you homework on the opposition if you don't want to get beat, especially if your running that stock PSD.
I'll agree with the others (even though we've all probably done it, and look back on how dumb it was), get off the street and go find a track.
