1972 F250 4X4 came home.

Just picked up this 1972 F250 4X4 yesterday. Has some minor issues. No major rust (a small hole on the drivers floor board already patched by revious owner), 390 V8, Auto Trans. (have original manual from PO), 3 inch body lift.

Need to hook up the emergency brake, speedo, small things like that. First upgrade I need to do is power steering (currently non power).

I paid $2800.00. I was hoping to get him down to $2500.00 but he would not budge. Originally it was up for sale at $3500 or above then $3000. When I called him at the $3000 price point he lowered it to $2800 over the phone.

Only reason I gave him $2800 was because of a lot of the new stuff he put on it.
New Carb
New Rancho Shocks all around
New Tires
Dual Batteries, MSD ignition
Plus a lot of spare parts

So do not know if I over paid by to much. Most of the others I was looking at were in the $1500 to $1800 range and were real rough or more project than I wanted to start with.

There are some light areas of surface rust. The body is on real nice shape. The frame and under carriage have already been painted. Basically get the a few things that are still disconnected working like the emergency brake and speedo.

I would like to get the steering upgraded to a pwer steering system. Did some searches on that and found a lot of info but still a little confused on the best direction to go in regards to the power steering upgrade.

So basically it is in pretty good shape for what I will be using it for. I want to try and get the body parts sanded and primed to nip the surface rust in the bud on the hood and few small areas.

It currently has an Auto tranny but originally had a manual which I was given along with the truck. The cluth pedal is still in the truck so I paln on going through the manual tranny and if it looks good I will prbably put it back in. There is a minor issue with the auto tranny that is in it that I noticed on the drive home. It seems to have a problem down shifting when I was going up hills. It would stay in high gear even if I pushed the gas pedal to the floor. I could manually shift to a lower gear. I think I would prefer the manual tranny anyway.

I will eventually like to get it where it is completely reliable and get it a nice paint job down the line. If will be my haul stuff from the home improvement store and things of that nature. Plus I live in the mountains here in Southern California and we get snow so it will be my 4X4 get through the snow vehicle as well.
