52 F6 Brake Master Cylinder

Ok, I've used the search function for the forum and still haven't found what I'm looking for.

What I need is a new rebuilt master cylinder or a rebuild kit for a 52 F6. NAPA lists one on-line but it shows a 1 1/4 cylinder (part # TS1034572). I think this is for the smaller trucks and that the F4 and larger had a bigger cylinder bore. Is this correct?

My old master cylinder is stamped 4570 on the side but my search results have not turned up anything with that number. Does anyone have a part number or a source of a rebuild or new reman master cylinder? I'm trying to get everything under the cab in line before I drop the cab back on and would prefer to drop in a new master cylinder instead of finding an old rebuild kit on ebay. Sure would hate to get it all together and find out it leaks.

By the way, I called joblots first and ran into the rudest woman I've met in a while. I never did get to find out if they had the parts I wanted. Definetly making me look for another parts source.

Howdy,

My 48-55 chassis parts catalog shows the part number for a 48-52 and 51-55 master cyl as A0T 2140-A

That's for just about ALL the trucks from F-2 ---- F-6
4570 is not a Ford part number for a master cyl.....

You might just consider taking it to a shop that rebuilds them. Napa had the kit for my F-600 cyl. and I could have bought a master cyl from them too...

Give Green Sales a call http://www.greensalescompany.com

You could try their search engine but it's pretty screwed up. the Ford part numbers right from Chassis catalog don't ever seem to work.

I just rebuilt my Master Cylinder for my F1. After doing the research, it looks like there are kits made by Raybestos for each. The smaller 1" is the MK-100 kit and the larger 1 1/4 kit is the MK-1.

Kragen shows the MK-1 kit online and depending on your area may have it in store. Napa does have the cylinders but they have to be ordered - takes 3 days.

It's possible that this one might be the right one from Rock Auto.

Give Green Sales a call Green Sales Company - Obsolete Ford parts, Lincoln, Mercury parts Green Sales Company, supplier of obsolete Ford parts and Lincoln / Mercury parts.* Our Ford parts inventory represents all Ford and Lincoln / Mercury products from 1950 to the present.

You could try their search engine but it's pretty screwed up. (It's not screwed up at all! It's 100% correct. Either the part number you are typing in isn't stocked by Green, or you are typing the part number into the website in-correctly, or it's because Ford has updated the part number listed in that ANCIENT parts catalog you are using.) the Ford part numbers right from Chassis catalog don't ever seem to work.
GREEN SALES = 800-543-4959. I've used Green's website for years, never had problem one.

The problem with the 1948/56 parts catalog is the same for all other Ford parts catalogs. Ford updates 1000's of part numbers a year, and since the last printing of this catalog was in 1964, some of the part numbers have since been updated.

I doubt that AOT-2140-A is a good number. It was prolly replaced after 1964. I'll know for sure tomorrow afternoon and post the result here.

In order to find out what the correct part number could be updated to, y'all need the following: The Ford OSI Catalogs. OSI = Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange.

I have two versions from the 1950's, and another that covers from 1960 thru 1992 on microfiche. I have another source that updates part numbers from 1992 thru today.

Without these OSI Catalogs, I wouldn't attempt to type ONE part number on FTE.

btw: When typing numbers into Green's (or any online Ford related parts website like FTEpartsguy.com), use NO spaces or hyphens. Type the number like this: AOT2140A.

Hi Bill,

I had this problem a few months ago and when I spoke to them. I was trying every combination of hyphens, spaces and blanks and none of them worked. The person at Green I spoke to told me that their search engine was having problems with a lot of older part numbers. They must have fixed it.

Is it possible that only some of the part numbers were updated? I tried several different part numbers from the same old catalog and some of them actually worked.

Petey Shoes that is exactly what is on the master cylinder. FD-4570 1 1/4. Do you have a link for that part. I was on the midwest early ford site and could not find the master cylinder or part #. The master cylinder I have is completely full of rust so I would rather stick with a new one.

If I cant find the master cylinder FD-4570 at Midwest I'll give the other places a call tomorrow and see if I can round one up. I dont know if all these master cylinders are the same thing.

See my post above.

Those are the latest Ford part numbers, typed directly from the 1948/56 Ford Truck Parts Catalog, then verified by the Ford OSI ** catalogs as the last Ford part numbers for these three parts.

I ran all of them on several internet search sites, the results are above.

I spent over an hour researching and typing those numbers. They are CORRECT!

** O.S.I. = Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange.

Well I got the master cylinder today from Green and part # B9J-2140-A is not the correct master cylinder for the 52. It has the wrong mounting holes (4 instead of 3). It looks like a lot bigger master cylinder than the one I have. I'll keep it until I find the right one. I may have to use it or use it on a future project.
I've got an email into JobLots. They say they have one but before I spend anymore money I've got to make sure its a 3 hole mount.
