I've finally saved up enough cash to buy a .45..... finally. I'm trying to decide between a Kimber Custom II and the Springfield Armory Loaded. Anyone know a lot about 1911s?

SA is the way to go...I have seen em run forever

kimber and colts quality have really gone down in the past few years....the kimbers/colts I have seem/held/shot have felt flimsy and poorly put together

I have heard mixed reviews about colts/kimber 1911s but nothing but good things when it comes to the SA series of 1911s....my roommate has "loaded" 1911 and loves it to death, I have the "GI"

On edit: kimbers are also $$$$$$$

I'm going to get an SA, probably a loaded, but if they have a GI or Mil-Spec for cheap enough, I might go that way too.. A friend of mine has the loaded in stainless and loves it, I'm just kinda partial to the parkerized finish.

I wish I had bought a loaded but I had to buy a GI because of the price.....$400 vs $700

I got a SA loaded, and they had one that's parkerized. Here it is right beside my friends stainless one. I'd say they're 99% identical, just the recoil spring on his is the two peice and mine isn't.

Edit: Apparently the scratches on the take-down levers on each gun really really shows up in all my pics. Looking at either gun you can hardly see them.. weird.

45's are nice ... But a good 10mm is ok too ... I think I will stick with a little pocket .357 tho ... Can be loaded as hot or mild as you want ...

For the girly-men there is always the S & W 500 ... YouTube - Most Powerful Handgun Smith and Wesson 500

Nice .45 ATC. Are the keys for some kind of built in lock? My 1911 has one on the back of the grip, it locks the slide shut.
