2000 F250 5.4L have lot problem that need to be fix

My friend who bought F250 from my Uncle 4 years ago it have 40,000 miles so now it have 96,500 miles.

I was shock how it run POOR! When I start it seem run rough then try shift in reverse engine start ready to die but it stupper and misfire so try turn steering. Something with steering it hard to turn but I check fluid it full but see fluid is moving in tank. Now try drive it seem run weak then try stop.

Brake not work right it got long time to stop like 45 mph to 0 mph with hard slam on brake it will get 15 feet. And it keep go right if push brake pedal hard. No leak and brake fluid still full in brake booster.

I notice when hit brake hard you feel something that front axle is loose.

Now what cause brake bad? I notice when hit brake pedal I feel like pulse so I think it could be wrap rotor.

He say he pay shop 4 months ago for brake on front end that cost $460. I told him I will do for $200. he say ok we will find time because he need f250 so no spare truck.

Ok it should be easy to replace brake booster. It just 4 bolt hold booster. Is lug to bolt under dashboard? Where get new one? how much it would be cost?

But I say I don't think it booster but it was dark that night so we will check that during day.

I forgot it was plow truck so I think he must beat up that truck so much that cause worn out much than our 2001 F250 V10 that have 250,000 miles.

sorry went back and saw that you are talking about a gasser, could be a bad booster moter running slow or weak might make the power stearing pump turn to slow and a massive vacume leak would make it run ruff for sure!!!

Thank for try your help. You know that everyday that everyone still learn new stuff.

I agree it could be vacuum leak because engine run poor.

those have V8 5.4L it gas engine not diesel.

I hope it not big job because he can't do without 1 day it need to be fix fast that why I post this thread before start work on him truck maybe tomorrow or next week.

I have question if I unplug vacuum hose to booster will that make brake pedal hard to push? I am try think how it work. If unplug brake pedal should be hard to push like old car with no power brake. If it not do that mean it bad booster or brake capilar?

Keep in mind those truck been sit many years then finally sold to him

My Uncle sold that in 2006 so 6 years that have close 35,000 miles to 45,000 miles. would that cause capilar sticky? It very rusty that you never saw. It been sit in ground all times in top of Michigan which is Hubbard Lake and Alpena. body look good but look under frame it look like it been soak in salt.

I will look for all problem on f250 and try fix before he drive. I hope he say wow it feel it run great I tell my friend how good you are mechanic. That what I am try because I can't get any job so do this job would help me earn money quick than work $7.50 at landscape that are too hot. this would get me close $200 to $300 if many jobs that need to be fix on this truck.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS MY FRIEND WHO BRING 2001 F250 TO SHOP TO FIX WHY BRAKE NOT WORK. They unplug pvc valve out valve cover on 5.4L

He told me brake not work great when they fix. so I try fix but he is busy until now.

I was shock! I just so mad why they do this to him. oil in engine is very SLUDGE because pvc valve was hide so there hole suck all dirts go in it.

Then found transmission modular is bad due green stuff on connector plus it not shift in right gear it in OD and 2 gears until we check computer scanner. But we was surprise her GF told me he replace transmission 3 months ago.

My Teacher and me was very shock how bad this truck in. I was very mad and want call police to tell them what they try to this truck and they could have kill him because brake not work right.

No wondered he pay nearby $500 for them to fix brakes twice.

Have anyone did this to you before? What you do?

TO me I would make them pay new engine and transmission because they try break this. I bet they fool him because they think he is stupid because he have no idea what wrong so they could pull him to pay more. He told brake was out twice they told them it was spring in front brake is broke.

I will talk to him since he was busy. I will have him tell me where shop and show me receipt or paperwork

I am sorry for this post because I was very upset since this truck have 96,450 miles Keep mind he bought this from my Uncle at 45,000 miles it was work great but it is plow truck.
