Ant advice, thinking of getting a 2008, F250?
I am a newbe to the site, I have been thinking of getting a 2008 F250 crewcab, Diesel. I like to do some camping so I am looking at pulling a toybox 5th wheel around 26 to 28 feet with no major toys inside just want the extra room. The truck will be for around town and for camping trips. I am lucky that I will not need it for everyday use. So any advice on what to look for on a truck for this purpose? Gearing, diesel or gas, trans, Any extra info would be helpful. Also what kind of gas mpg should I expect towing and around town, highway all this would be helpful.
Thanks Dave
Thanks Dave

BIGGDDAVE - Well, hope you know the fuel mileage on these trucks are not too good. The 6.4 has plenty of power. It's does not get the mileage like the old 7.3. If your 5th wheel doesn't weigh much maybe you could go with the 3.55 rear end. Not sure what the tow rating is with it, but if it would work it would help with your economy. These trucks are really nice. I would say it is the nicest truck that I have ever owned, and I have not had any problems with mine so far. I would have to say go out and test drive one with the rear end that you think you want. As far as the transmission, that just depends on you. I really like the automatic. With my 4.10 rear end, before the tuner, I could only get around 10.8-11 city and mid 12's on the highway. Good luck. Hope you find the one you want.
