What is the rarity of a '58 Big window?

eBay Motors: Ford : Other Pickups (item 260278673302 end time Aug-30-08 15:17:58 PDT) I have asked the seller about this truck. He is located in Independence, Kansas. Anyone familiar with this area? Also, as the title says, what is the rarity of a big window '58 F100? If I had a way to get it, I would buy it.

How much for the three flatheads?

I don't know, but he stated they weren't included in the truck sale. He said he bought 600 cars and trucks in the whole lot, which looks like someone's old farm field, and has a box full of titles. Perhaps the flatties are for sale seperately?

What a find, I think he`s headed for a fairly wealthy retirement soon!

The listing states it's a '59 Big Window & about 1/3 or more were in this configuration, as I recall.

Yeah, I thought it said '58 the other day, but I looked again today and sure enough it said '59. Either he corrected it, or my eyes were bad, lol. Either way, it looks like a decent truck to just get running and drive it.

Havi, Independence is in the SE corner of the state. Years ago KS used a sand salt mix in the winter so I would beware of rust. It needs to be looked over real good on the bottom side.

big rear window 58 or 59

I've got a 58 big rear window and I like it just fine. I'm not an expert, but I seem to see the large rear window units around quite a bit. Are all the big windows "customs"? I don't know. Mine is-or was and it can be hard to get the steering wheel and other cool not easy to find replacement trim etc. So it could be "rare" if all that stuff is still on it and in condition that you deem useable. My horn ring and stuff was busted up and I repainted and glossed up the whole truck and the wheel had to go because it just looked to funky by comparison--so I bought a aftermarket standard wheel from Dennis Carpenter. I saved the Custom wheel etc, but it needs help. I bought a new replacement piece of glass last year for the big rear window and installed myself with a new rubber and no problems, and it was comparatively priced with all the other rear large type windows--they didn't stick it to me--and I just like having the "big view". I've got some pics of my truck in my gallery, but I can't recall if you can see the big window or not. My 58 is a hot rod. I've got two more sedate looking F1's. One has the flathead six and the other has a 312 Y block and a early Lincoln rear end.

Hey Havi I don't want to bust any bubbles but that truck looks like a major rust bucket.. Look at the pic with the front door open and you'll see daylight at the bottom of the door hinge. That step looks like it's ready to fall off. The horn ring is also busted. It's supposed to be a 3/4 circle. Sitting out in a field like that can't be good...

No, not all Big Windows are Custom Cab's, as one could Special Order any Option or any combination of Options there of for a Standard or Custom Cab.
If you wish to replace your C.C. Horn Ring, then you've a '59, as the Horn Ring didn't come out till then & was used on the '60s as well. I believe I know where one is, P.M. me if that is your desire. I just might be able to locate a '59-'60 C.C. for you.

It now states he found the title. In talking with the purchaser/director of shipping, he says nobody will be hauling in that area any time soon. On another note, I pulled my 1973 IH 3/4 ton around to the front yard, and I'll say this truck is toast. I may end up looking for another car hauling truck instead. Perhaps a 1959 F250/F350?
