Parts Cross Over List

Parts Cross Over List
You know with all our Trucks getting older and the Good Parts hunting getting more scarce.
It would be a good idea for a list making as to what will fit your ride. Bearings for instance, your local Bearing Dstributor, listed in the Yellow Pages, can get you just about any bearing made, same with some can get you Fan Belts.
The list goes on, and its a good idea to make one. I myself have got a Throughout Bearing for a 39 from the Bearing Shop, just for what its worth to some.
I myself personally don't have a list, as I have been doing this for years, but as you all know "GOOD PARTS" are getting scarce.
Just thought I would make mention for those interested.

you are right about good parts. It would seem like with all the suspension bushings out there a guy could find a cross reference that would match OD, ID, length, load etc. My son is working on a car where the only way to replace upper control arm bushings is to replace the whole assy for $150 and there's 4 of them. Does anyone know of a cross for bushings?

Whenever some one posts a threads about finding a part for their trucks I have always suggested going to a distributor that sells that specific part. I have a local bearing place that can match up almost any bearing or seal. I have also had luck finding spring parts that sell parts for big truck springs. If these types of places don't have what you're looking for most likely they will be able to offer recommendations to other places that may have the part. Some times it takes two or three leads to find what you're looking for.
Another good place to look for odd parts are the local farm supply stores. Many pieces of farm equipment still use some of the parts that were used on our old trucks.
